Weddings

As a Celebrant I believe that every love story deserves to be celebrated with a ceremony as unique and special as the couple themselves.  Based in Birmingham, I specialise in creating bespoke wedding celebration ceremonies which reflect your individual personalities, values and love story.

Why Choose a Celebrant-Led Ceremony?

A celebrant-led wedding celebration ceremony gives you the freedom to design a ceremony that is truly personal and meaningful.  A celebrant-led ceremony can take place at any location, at any time, and in any style you choose.  If your dream is an intimate garden ceremony, a quirky themed ceremony, or a grand celebration in an historic venue, I am here to help make your vision a reality.

Bespoke Wedding Celebration Ceremonies

I take pride in tailoring your wedding celebration ceremony to your specific desires.  I take the time to get to know you as a couple, understanding your journey and what makes your relationship unique.  These allows us to create a ceremony that is not only beautiful but also deeply personal and reflective of your love.

As the law stands in the UK, independent celebrants cannot yet conduct legally binding ceremonies. By separating the legal formalities from the celebration ceremony, you then have the freedom to hold your ceremony anywhere you like without any restrictions on location, time or content.

Most couples choose to complete their legal marriage or civil partnership before their celebrant ceremony. This can be done at a register office in a simple, cost-effective way, or you may wish to hold a separate ceremony to complete the legalities – some couples get legally married in a different country or have a service in a place of worship. Whatever option you choose means you will have the freedom to celebrate that commitment in any way you wish.

What’s included in a Celebrant Wedding?

Some couples may be concerned that without the legal part, their ceremony won’t feel as special. But they soon realise that a celebrant ceremony is everything you might expect from a wedding… and much more!

The legal element involves the simple process of identifying yourself and reading out a few declaratory and contractual words. Everything else is purely ceremonial (including the exchange of rings). And it’s the ceremony itself that makes your wedding so special.

Although I cannot use the specific declaratory and contractual words that a registrar would use, I can incorporate everything else you would expect from a wedding, such as walking down the aisle, making your vows to one another, exchanging rings, and the big “you may now kiss” moment!

Alternatively, you might not want your ceremony to feel like a traditional wedding – and many couples now choose to do things a bit differently. Some couples choose to walk in together or stand facing their guests for a more open and inclusive feeling. Couples with children often make them a key part of the ceremony. And some like to incorporate religious, spiritual or ancient customs into their ceremonies. No two ceremonies are the same – they can be as traditional or as alternative as you like, and everything in between.

What to Expect

1. Initial Consultation: We begin with a relaxed and friendly consultation to discuss your ideas and preferences.  I prefer to do this in person, but if it is difficult to arrange it can be done over the phone, or via video call.

2. Personalised Ceremony Script: Based on our discussions, I will create a personalised ceremony script that tells your love story and includes any special readings, rituals, or traditions you wish to incorporate.  You will have the opportunity to see the script before the big day so that can check the details are correct.

3. Rehearsal: To ensure everything runs smoothly on the big day, I conduct a rehearsal at your chosen venue. This helps everyone involved feel confident and comfortable with the ceremony proceedings.

4. The Big Day: On your wedding day, I will be there to conduct the ceremony with warmth, professionalism, and a genuine passion for celebrating your love. I handle all the details, so you can relax and enjoy every moment.  After the ceremony is completed, I will leave you with a bound souvenir copy of the script, including all the readings, music choices and vows.

Vow Renewals

You might be celebrating a significant anniversary or just wish to reaffirm your commitment to one another.  Whichever it is I can help you create a ceremony that rekindles the magic of your wedding day by creating a vow renewal ceremony that is heartfelt and memorable, as well as being unique to you.

Commitment Ceremonies

Some couples prefer to celebrate their love without the legalities – commitment ceremonies are a meaningful way to honour your bond.  These ceremonies are just as special and significant, providing an opportunity to express your feelings to one another in the company of your families and friends.
